CRYOCOOL 3 CRYOGENIC COOLING SYSTEM

MSHA has made a final determination regarding Mine Refuge Alternatives. 30 C.F.R. Part 7, Section 7.504 which requires that the apparent temperature in a fully occupied refuge alternative not exceed an apparent temperature of 95° Fahrenheit. The CryoCool 3 provides mine refuge alternative manufacturers and coal mine operators a resolution to achieve this standard. Utilizing a cryogenic liquid, the Cryocool 3 is the cooling solution for mine refuge alternatives.

The MMSS CryoCool 3 Cooling System is comprised of five (5) separate components and does not require electrical energy. The system is capable of delivering 3,000 to 12,000 BTUs of cooling capacity. Liquid CO2 is stored for the CryoCool 3 Cooling System in high pressure cryogenic liquid cylinders. The number of cylinders needed to supply the system is proportional to the BTU output necessary, based upon heat load, and/or the time required for operation. The cooling is accomplished through absorption of a combination of sensible and latent heat. The CryoCool 3 has the capability to be adjusted to function at different cooling rates depending upon site specific needs. MMMS CryoCool 3 Cooling System Components:

• The CryoCool 3 cryogenic cooling apparatus
• The cryogenic liquid supply transportation skid and housing
• The cryogenic liquid distribution system
• The cryogenic liquid containers
