The Minerals Commission of Ghana is the Government agency with the primary responsibility of developing and coordinating mineral sector policies and monitoring their implementation. The Commission was established under the Minerals Commission Law (PNDCL.154). With the promulgation of the 1992 Constitution, the Parliament of Ghana enacted the Minerals Commission Act, 1993 (Act 450) to give continued legal backing to the existence of the Commission, as required by Article 269(1) of the Constitution. The Commission is responsible for the regulation and management of the utilization of the mineral resources of Ghana and the co-ordination of the policies in relation to them.

The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS) is a non-profit organization launched in the United States in 1998 with a mission to provide access to high quality, affordable, and specialized orthopedic care to those, who would not otherwise have access to such treatment. FOCOS was founded under the visionary leadership of Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, who is one of the world’s prominent specialists in treating spinal deformities. Through relentless efforts and the generous contributions from major private donors around the world, FOCOS helped to fund the building and opening of FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital in 2012, serving not only the local community, but patients from across the globe. The hospital features operating theaters, a recovery room, a physiotherapy center, orthotics lab, radiology and MRI center, and more. It is the only facility of its kind in all of West Africa and is a critical part of the healthcare infrastructure in the region. Patients have access to treatment for a full range of spinal and joint deformities that would otherwise go untreated.
